Factor the expression below and use fundamental identities to simplify.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\cos ^{2}x \sec ^{2}x - \cos ^{2} x\]

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

cos^2x (sec^2x - 1) = cos^2x* tan^2x = cos^2x * sin^2x ------ cos^2x = sin ^2x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wha... wha? I'm not going to pretend to know how you got that but thanks.

OpenStudy (cwrw238):

i used 2 trig identities sec^2x = 1 + tan^2x and tanx = sinx / cosx
