y/ sq rt 7+ sq rt 3

OpenStudy (radar):

\[y \over \sqrt{7}+\sqrt{3}\] It would be appropriate to "rationalize" the denominator. This is accomplished by multiplying both the numerator by\[\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{3}\]

OpenStudy (radar):

Doing the numerator first:\[y(\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{3)}=\sqrt{7}y-\sqrt{3}y\ That will be the numerator. Now do the denominator:\[(\sqrt{7}+\sqrt{3})(\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{3})=7-3=4\] The complete fraction will be \[y(\sqrt{7}-\sqrt{3})\over 4\]
