why is CS2 more polar than F2?

Polarity happens when one atom in a chemical bond attracts the bonding electrons more strongly than the other atom - that is, it is more electronegative than the other. This can only happen when the atoms in the bond differ as in CS2. Both atoms in F2 are the same. Clear?

So because F2 is the same element, it isn't as polar as two different elements bonding?

Yes, pretty much. Each type of atom has its own certain electronegativity. This is an intrinsic property to each atom. When two different atoms bond with each other by sharing an electron, the atom which is more electronegative is selfish - it attracts the bonding electrons more strongly than the less electronegative atom. This creates a partial negative charge on the atom with the stronger hold on the bonding electrons and a partial positive charge on the atom with the weaker hold on the bonding electrons. This is polarity. When two atoms which are the same bond with each other, they both have the same electronegativity, so the bonding electrons are shared equally between them. Neither has a partial charge and the molecule is non-polar.

C and S have the same EN according to my chem test book. So does it still have to do with the different elements bonding, or because CS2 hase two bonds instead of one?

C and S do not have exactly the same electronegativity. Pretty close because they are close to each other in the periodic table but not exactly equal.

|dw:1334310257665:dw| due to diferance of EN, bond might be polar BUT molucule are not because they are linear. even if they had a diferance in EN CS2 would tow (+) or (-) point......no polarity as all. So their diferance is the size of them. (and now my english will proven not enaph) Well whwt it hapens fpr example to F2 is that electrons mooving "arount" the molucule, are at times consatrated to one part to molucule there for molucule acts as polar. same thing in CS2 but here due to size (distance of atoms) polarity of molucule is bigger
