OpenStudy (anonymous):

when water spreads on aglass plate the force between its molecules are due to a)surface tension b)cohesion c)adhesion d)capilary attraction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C-Adhesion as it is the force btwn the molecules of different compunds. and is greater than the cohesion force(force btwn molecules of same compounds).....but in the case of mercury the force of cohesion is more than adhesion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cohesive and adhesive forces depend on the nature of material involve...it just happens to be fact that in case of water-glass interface the adhesive force is much greater than cohesive force..this leads to the spreading of water or in another way, cause more contact area of water with glass..
