Table salt has a solubility of 36 g of salt in 100 g of water at 40°C. If 15 g of the salt are added to 50 g of water at the same temperature, is the resulting solution saturated or unsaturated? Explain please

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A saturated solution is at full capacity of solute that can be dissolved in a solvent. An unsaturated solution can still take additional solute to be dissolved in the solute. Since the saturation point (~ solubility) = 36g/100g, you should see that 15g/50g is less. So, it has not reached the saturation point yet. Unsaturated.
