What are the domain restrictions for [3x^2+4x^2-x-2]/[x^2-x-1]??
there's an x in the denominator therefore solve for x^2 - x - 1 = 0 that will be the restriction
so \[x \neq 1 \pm \sqrt{5} \over 2\]??
if that's what came out then yes..it is all real numbers except those two
and can you tell if either of these restrictions result from a verticle asymptote?
when there is an x in the denominator then automatically there is a vertical asymptote...the vertical asymptote is the domain restriction...therefore the asymptotes for this one is what you wrote there
ok and one more thing, how do i find the slant asymtote?
that's in hyperbolas right? hmm i cannot remember sorry...i do remember drawing an imaginary square and the diagonals are the slant asymptotes
ok thanks!
