An electric field of 259,000 N/C points due west at a certain spot. What are the magnitude and direction of the force that acts on a charge of -7.4 µC at this spot?

OpenStudy (goformit100):

V=q/c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Isn't this solved using E = F/q?

Also, since you're dealing with a negatively-charged particle, the electric field is in the direction opposite to the force. Hope that helps!

Continuing my response (sorry), I think I did the math right (paper and pencil); I got F = 1.9 N, pointing east.
