Choose the correct simplification of the expression a^6b^3 over a^4b^2 A. a^2 over b B. a^10b^5 C. a^10 over b^5 D. a^2b Can anyone please help me out and explain how you got the answer so I can actually learn to do it? Thanks !(:

a^6 means a times itself 6 times. b^3 means b times itself 3 times. Etc. So rewrite your problem like that: \[\large \frac{a^6b^3}{a^4b^2} = \frac{a*a*a*a*a*a*b*b*b}{a*a*a*a*b*b}\]

Understand so far? Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah , i got that part but i just don't know how to simplify it

Well, now that it's written that way, we can cancel things. Anything that shows up in the top and the bottom, we can cancel it out. Do it in pairs, like this: |dw:1342208889234:dw|
