Find the reference angle for the following. -48

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do u know what it is @waterineyes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Wait..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here the angle is negative, so for reference angle just find its absolute value: What is: |-48| = ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

My Internet is very slow..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So: -(-48) = 48 Therefore its reference angle is \(48^{\circ}\)..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Did you understand it or not?? @Lulu212

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sort of when i was taught how to do the others it said to find the smallest multiple of 90 that is more than the angle you are finding and subtract from what you have

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah that is the case when theta is in 3rd quadrant.. Here, theta is in 4th Quadrant...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ex. find the reference angle of 210 (90x3=270) 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

270-210=60

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That is what I am saying if theta is in 3rd Quadrant then you will subtract it from 270 always..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but in this case it is in the ? Quadrant

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here in your example theta is in 3rd quadrant.. |dw:1342890402757:dw|
