2.Why did it take so long for Galileo’s results to be confirmed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The Church, who governed during this time period, was hesistant to accept Galileo's spatial claims (a heliocentric system). it was later confirmed by Jesuit astronomers.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i just dont get this galileo stuff

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it took that long to go to an environment with no atmosphere, hence no air resistance.

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Because scientific study and research was kinda difficult at his time - the church was acting like a hooligan then. They brandished anyone (like they did to Galileo) whose findings conflicted the church's preaching, a traitor. Publishing one's scientific study in the open was a sure-shot suicide back then. So, there was hardly anyone who could/would/wanted to check out Galileo's claims.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which result are we talking about?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think the space stuff

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

In general @Vaidehi09 - kinda historic links in the question.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanx alot apoorvk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh...i was referring to this one - "two bodies, irrespective of their masses, will fall to the ground, from the same height, at the same time."

OpenStudy (apoorvk):

Oh lol, no worries.
