My friend asked me how do you say "Love is war, only if you fight for it", in spanish. Anybody can translate?

El amor es la guerra, pero solo si luchas por el. That doesn't sound very smooth, but that's the gist. Sometimes translating straight across doesn't work very well.

El amor es la guerra, sólo si luchar por ella. Thats how it would be said.

I don't know if it's a saying or not, but if you want the gender of what you're fighting for to agree, then it's por él. (My bad on the first). And you wouldn't use the infinitive. Now if you mean, "love is war, but only if you fight for *her*", as fight for the girl you love, then you could say ella. The sentiment of the latter is better, imho. :)

I put ella because that is what i was taught, for sayings like this is is normally from the guy to the girl.
