Am I on the right track with this? Solve for n n/-8 = -3 (-8/n)(n/-8) =(1/-3)(-8/1) n=- 8/3 is this correct if n=1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Not quite on track... let's try again...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:( sighs ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

n/-8 = -3 First step: get n alone by multiplying both sides by the denominator on the left which is (-8)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought I was doing that by dividing by 8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ n }{ -8 } = -3\] \[\frac{ n }{ -8 }(-8) = (-3)(-8)\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You may be thinking about a situation like: 7n = 14 Divide both sides by 7 to get: n = 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I see...I was doing what you did....but I had 1/=3 insteand of -3/1...does that make sense

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at least it does to me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops 1/-3
