In an exothermic reaction, the bonding energy of the product is: less than the reactants same as the reactants greater than the reactants dependent on the presence of a catalyst

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As in exothermic reactions Heat is Generated ,the energy to give away the heat comes from the bonding energy of the reactants..and the answer will be less than the reactants..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so in an exothermic reaction the products are greater than the reactions???!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Bonding energy of reactants=Bonding energy of product +HEAT If heat>0 then Bonding energy of reactants>Bonding energy of product

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no ,that is not necessary, product's BONDING ENERGY will be lesser not the NO. OF PRODUCTS..

Ooooh ok, I get it...Can you help me with one more question Which of the following reactions is not a chemical reaction? melting an ice cube tarnishing of a silver spoon digestion of food the browning of a freshly sliced apple I Think its the digestion of food but im not sure

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Look in digestion of food you have many chemical reactions going on in your organs, and with the help of these reactions only food is broken into smaller parts. according to me the answer will be melting of ice as only the STATE OF MATTER is changing not matter itself.:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh I thought that would be a physical change...
