plz help Which type of compound usually has higher melting points: ionic compounds or covalent compounds? What is the reason for this difference in melting points? (3 points)

like, to melt something, do we need to supply heat such that it breaks chemical bonds between atoms (or) just breaking the inter-molecular force is sufficient
usually covalent because you have to heat them to excite the electrons also covalent are more stable so it talkes a lot more energy to break covalent bonds
