Calculate the Enthalpy of Sublimation of carbon (graphite) in K.cal Mol^-1 hf for C2H6 = -20.2 K.cal mol^-1 @298K Bond Energy of H-H=103 k cal C-C = 80 C-H=98

OpenStudy (ghazi):

do you know after sublimation what would be the product?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CO2

OpenStudy (ghazi):

NO, from ethane how could you get CO2 if ethane is transformed in to gas , sublimation is change of state from solid to gas without passing by liquid

Can you think of a way to calculate dH for C2H6(g) -> C(g)? If you get that, then finding the missing number should be easy.
