What is the hydrogen-ion concentration if the acid dissociation constant is 0.000001 and the acid concentration is 0.01M? I have no idea how to go about this. I know the formulas, but the numbers and letters confuse me.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

set up an equilibrium expression, then solve for [H+]

OpenStudy (abb0t):

ICE table?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you could do an ice table, but you can just set up \[Ka=\frac{ [H ^{+}][A ^{-}] }{ [HA] }\] [H+]=[A-] because they dissociate in a 1:1 ratio so it's just \[Ka=\frac{ x^2 }{ [HA] }\] [H+]=x

I 4got all my pchem/ gchem. Lol

OpenStudy (aaronq):

i recently took analytical chem, so i'm fresh with all kinds stoichio and junk, otherwise i would be rusty too

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do I put in the spot for [HA]?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

HA = acid [ ] = conc

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Why is this back up again Lol. after 3 months.
