La diferencía entre "entender" y "Comprender"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are similar, and it really depends on the situation. Entender = Understand Comprender = Comprehend I guess you could say comprehend, or comprender, goes deeper in thought. I don't know how to explain it very well. I think this link will help you better than I could: http://spanish.about.com/od/usingparticularverbs/a/entender-comprender.htm

Gracias!

I know my para and por are incorrect, but could entender be allowed in this sentence?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hay veces que si. Por ejemplo, ¿Me entiendes? Do you understand me? ¿Me escuchas? Do you hear me?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I think it'd work out better without the 'para'. 'Pero' seems right though. It's easy to understand someone in spanish, but its not easy to speak.

OpenStudy (anonymous):
