is the answer 16?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

you need to use ratios of corresponding sides in similar triangles so you need to find the length of the base of the larger triangle that has the tree as the height |dw:1363289572545:dw| then you will use \[\frac{20}{5} = \frac{b}{4}... or.... b = \frac{20 \times 4}{5}\] so the base of the large triangle has a length of 16 ft but you need to find the distance from the tree to the man, so subtract 4 ft.. the base of the small triangle. So distance from tree to man = 16 - 4 I'll let you finish... hope this make sense.

I'm afraid it's 'd'... Use tangent of the angle common to both the triangles...

what about this one?
