The scatter diagram of SAT verbal and math scores in a state is roughly football shaped, and the correlation is 0.65. A student is on the 90th percentile of verbal scores. Find the regression estimate of this student’s percentile rank in math.

i cant seem to work out the steps :/ but does any of it sound familiar? or were you thinking a different method?
got the 90th percentile for thA student is on the 40th percentile of verbal scores. Find the regression estimate of this student’s percentile rank in math.is question it is 79.75 but I am stuck with the 40th percentile i.e mt answer for this is
z score for .9000 is what, 1.28 1.28 * .65 = .832 a zscore of 0.83 gives a percent near 79.7%
not sure i understand that last post
I got 79.75 as the answer for 90th percentile. I have the problem working out percentiles and need the formula to work out this I am now looking at the 40th percentile for the same question.
im not sure the formula, i have to use a table
High were can I find this table I have sat working it out would be helpful if you can let me know where I can get a copy of the table
a have a ztable that starts at z=0; percentile = 50 since the z is mirrored along a normal curve, percentile of 40 is the negavite of 60 z60 = 0.25 ; z40 = -0.25
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_5u1UHojRiJk/TEh9BHxxPUI/AAAAAAAAAIQ/DafeQNMYFoE/s1600/ztable.gif ztable -.25*.65 = -.1625, or a zscore of about -.16
-.16 is equal to .16, -50 so about 6.4%
im not sure im doing it correctly tho :/
ok got it found a table was guessing these
