A small dog is trained to jump straight up a distance of 1.2 m. How much kinetic energy does the 7.2-kg dog need to jump this high? (The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s2.) Show your work.

firstly find time using the formula s=ut+.5at^2 s is distance travelled 1.2 m u is initial velocity which is zero t is time a is acceleration 10 m/s^2 so t comes out around .5 sec then find velocity v=s/t=1.2/.5=2.4 m/sec then kinetic energy=.5mv^2 where m is mass v is velocity so k.e.=20.74 joules
