Candace bought 8 apples and 9 peaches at the grocery store. If the apples have a mass of 1,200 grams and the peaches have a mass of 1,080 grams, what is the total mass of the fruit?
A 2 kilograms 2 hectograms 8 dekagrams B 2 kilograms 2 grams 8 decigrams C 2 kilograms 2 centigrams 8 milligrams
multiply the 1200 by 8 then the 9 by 1080
9600
9720
is the 1200 and 1080 like the total already or for each one?
1200 multiply 8 is 9600
1080 multiply by 9 is 9720
i get that part but the question is weirdly worded. all you have to do is add the two together(1080 and 1200) and then get them in terms of grams and such.
The total weight of the fruit in grams is 1200 + 1080 = 2280 grams This weight can be broken down as follows: 2000 grams + 200 grams +80 grams 2000 grams = 2 kilograms 200 grams = 2 hectograms 80 grams = 8 decagrams
i know but these are my answers 2 kilograms 2 hectograms 8 dekagrams 2 kilograms 2 grams 8 decigrams 2 kilograms 2 centigrams 8 milligrams
well kilograms are 1000 grams so if you add those together you would get 2280 so what would it be?
If you look at my posting you will see the correct choice, just combine the last three lines.
add wat up
i just told you what to add...add the two masses(1200 and 1080)
ok so that gives me 2280
yes. so now we know that 1000 grams goes into 1kilogram, so how many grams would you have from that?
2000 grams = 2 kilograms 200 grams = 2 hectograms 80 grams = 8 decagrams Just write the three entries on the right hand side of each equation in order and you have one of the choices.
u got it right thank u sooooooo much
You're welcome :)
