hey there, quick question im stumped on! help? What are the major differences between empirical and molecular formulas? Make sure to include the difference in how they are calculated in your discussion.

We can start by formal definition: Empirical formula is the simplest whole number ratio of of the various types of atom in a compound, while Molecular formula is the actual formula of the constituent molecules. Empirical formula can be obtained from the mass percent of elements in a compound and Molecular formula is always an integer multiple of empirical formula. These definitions are going to start to make sense if we cite a stoichiometric problem and solve for the empirical and molecular formula. Let me know if you want a little demonstration.
