Why doesn't diamond have a boiling point ... is it because its actually one big molecule... I read that it decomposes in vaccuum... Why cant it become gaseous diamond like methane becomes gaseous methane Can someone please explain

I'm not sure but I think that its because in the chemical structure of diamond, the bonds that hold the carbon together are so strong that it takes an extremely large amount of energy to break them apart so that the individual molecules can separate enough to become a gas. Again, I'm no expert in this field but I have studied a little Thermodynamics and I think that's correct. I hope this helps...
