\[(\sqrt{5} -\sqrt{-4}) (\sqrt{35}-\sqrt{-28})\] evaluate the expression in the form a+bi
i have an answer and work but its not correct i dont know what im doing wrong?
What did you get?
\[(\sqrt{175}+4\sqrt{7}) -(4\sqrt{35}) i \]
You need to simplify sqrt175
which before simplifying help by a "tutor" i got
\[\sqrt{175}-4i \sqrt{35}-4\sqrt{7}\]
5 sqrt 7 ?
\[(\sqrt{5}-2i)(\sqrt{35}-2\sqrt{7}i)=5\sqrt{7}-10\sqrt{35}i-2\sqrt{35}i+4\sqrt{7}i^2\]
Work on that.
wait... hold your train lol ... how did you get all those numbers?
Be more specific. What number in particular are you unclear about?
Well when you got -10 sqrt 35i why is the i on the inside ? because when foiling it was on the outside?
wait no hold on.. let me look at this for a minnute ...
\[\sqrt{175}=\sqrt{25(7)}=5\sqrt{7}\]
The i is not on the inside
okay so now tell me where did you come up with \[10\sqrt{35}\]
That's actually a mistake. Both the outer and inner should be -2sqrt35 (i)
ahhhh okaii ... makes sence now thats what i got ... so just a minnute while i keep calculating
\[-4\sqrt{35i}-\sqrt{7}\]
