What is a nonelectrolyte?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

H2O + HCl -> H3O+ + Cl-

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you should be able to figure it out from here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well apparently look... an ion is an atom which loses or gains electrons to gain stable configuration equal to its nearest noble gas. okay? @foxhunter98 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now the solute here is water. and it is a non electrolyte.. because it is a stable bond...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Apparently the solution will conduct electricity because of the presence of ions. so the higher the concentration of ions the higher amount of electricity can be conducted.. got it @ foxhunter98 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well i don't really no that answer but it must be dissociation..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

make sure of what @foxhunter98 ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohkay apparently the process is ionisation. because HCl exists as a covalent bond and as we know that covalent compounds dont have a tendency to form ions. and yet here HCl is forming ions in aqueous solution. hence your answer is ionisation and as much as i love to say this, i'm pretty sure thats the answer.. okay @foxhunter98

well anytime man!
