find the rate of decay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

b(x)=4(0.006)^x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

answer needs to be a percent

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

I'd expect you would need a value for b(x) to find the value of x... otherwise its simply a process of making x the subject. divide both sides by 4 \[\frac{b(x)}{4} = 0.006^x\] take the log of both sides \[\log(\frac{b(x)}{4}) = x \log(0.006)\] then \[x = \frac{\log(\frac{b(x)}{4})}{\log(0.006)}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as a percent?

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

ok... then multiply the value by 100 to change a fraction to a percentage \[x = \frac{\log(\frac{(b(x)}{4})}{\log(0.006)} \times 100\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which would be???? (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

try it out urself first @Katieann16 its against CoC to give out answers without letting the user work it our also :)

OpenStudy (campbell_st):

as I said originally... you are missing a value for b(x) ... if you knew it... then you could substitute and get a percentage..
