what is the correct differentiation for this question? @electrokid i keep getting 168z^6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

"anti-derivative" \[df=-28z^6dz\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats not correct either @electrokid

OpenStudy (anonymous):

did you integrate?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nope.. check the integration

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

Differentiate each choice and see which one will give you what you started with.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\int x^ndx={x^{n+1}\over n+1}+C\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so, what did you get?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

B.?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathstudent55 that didnt really match up to the answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we do not really know the constant.. that s why it is "general"

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and it does match @mathstudent55's answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok i see what i did wrong..

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

@hayatabz1 Perhaps what is confusing is that you may have misread the problem. You are being asked for the general solution of a differential equation. In this case, all you need to do is to integrate to get the answer. Then the problem asks you to take your answer and differentiate it to check to see if your solution is correct. I think you misunderstood the directions, and you just differentiated what you were given instead of integrating.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes i do see what i did wrong now thank you @mathstudent55 @electrokid

OpenStudy (mathstudent55):

wlcm
