Can electron beam be deflected by using both electric field and magnetic field?
I know electric field does it. But, now we are moving onto magnetism where i encounter the deflection using magnetic field. So, i am confused. Can, someone explain to me.

The force experienced by an electric field is F = q E , while for a magnetic field it is F = q( v X B). The force for an electric field does not depend on how fast the electrons are moving, while the force from a magnetic field does. Additionally, the magnetic field would have to be oriented in a different direction. Assuming the magnetic field was constant, the electric field can impart extra energy to the beam, while the magnetic field cannot. However, if the magnetic field is nonuniform, this is no longer true because we must also take into account the spin of the electron and its magnetic dipole moment -- a complication that is probably not worth dealing with at this stage.
