Find the no.of water molecules in Epsomite[MgSO4.7 H20]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@shubhamsrg ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in how much epsomite?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7 water molecules in 1 molecule of epsomite, so 7 moles of water for 1 mole of epsomite.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

sry 280 g epsomite..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find how many moles it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok...so number of moles of epsomite times 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok wait...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i got molecular mass as 246 is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

7*18 for the water 1*molar mass of mg 1*molar mass of s 4*molar mass of o look right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea...so 280/246 the whole thing times 7?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok..so that's the number of molecules or should i multiply by Avogadro's nummber? or multiplying by Avogadro's no. will give me number of atoms?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you multiply by avogadro's number to get the number of molecules from the number of moles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thnx a lot! :D
