OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

When finding the limit of an infinite series, what gives me an indication that the first step in finding the limit is doing partial fraction decomposition?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

well the only time partial fractions works is if denominator has degree 2 or greater and can be factored

OpenStudy (chrisplusian):

Is that the only clue? Aren't there times when you won't need to do partial fraction decomposition if the degree of the denominator is greater that one?

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

lets see, oh right there usually is multiple terms and if the numerator is derivative of denominator then substitution can be used ... but i am thinking of integration
