he displacement (in centimeters) of a particle moving back and forth along a straight line is given by the equation of motion s = 3 sin πt + 5 cos πt, where t is measured in seconds. (Round your answers to two decimal places.) Find the avg velocity on the intervals (a) Find the average velocity during each time period? i) 1,2 ii) 1,1.1 iii)1,1.01 iv)1, 1.001

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

velocity is rate of change of distance (displacement in this case. So you have to find the first derivative of this function with respect to time.

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

to find the interval you have to find the period of the function

which is 6 for the first answer. for the rest of the time intervals I did it like the first one but did not get it right.

The displacement (in centimeters) of a particle moving back and forth along a straight line is given by the equation of motion s = 4 sin πt + 3 cos πt, where t is measured in seconds. (Round your answers to two decimal places.) this is similar to the problem I posted, this is where my first answer was 6

I tried the other time intervals the same way but did not get it correct, what am I doing wrong?

OpenStudy (rajee_sam):

the question asks what is the average velocity during each time period? have they given you any time period or it is time for one full cycle.

the time period are [1, 1.1], [1, 1.01], [1, 1.001]. also i have to Estimate the instantaneous velocity of the particle when t = 1.
