can you please help me out in understanding Recombination ? i'm at grade 12

OpenStudy (shrutipande9):

this is in the simplest language and the most basic in recombination. following steps are involved- 1)isolation of desired gene- a particular gene which is required is isolated from donor DNA using restriction endonucleases enzyme (often called as biological scissors). 2)selection of suitable vector- vector i.e gene carrier is selected which maybe generally a plasmid DNA or phage DNA. 3)formation of recombinant DNA-using restriction enzyme the vectorDNA is cut and then the isolated gene is fused using enzyme DNA ligase. this is called as gene splicing or ligation. this is then called a recombinant DNA 4) transfer to host- this rDNA is then introduced in a suitable host (gen E.coli) for cloning. the host should not be pathogenic. the incorporation of rDNA is done by electroporation. 5)cloning- the transformed bacterial c ell is allowed to multiply.
