OpenStudy (anonymous):

Two compounds are standing at the same temperature. Compound "A" is evaporating more slowly than compound "B." According to the Kinetic Molecular Theory, which assumption can be made?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

evaporation (boiling point) is the "breaking" of intermolecular forces holding adjacent molecules together. If the forces are weaker a lower boiling point is observed, and if the forces are strong a higher boiling point is observed.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

If they're only held by london dispersion forces (polarization of their electron densities) then their boiling points can be attributed to their size, larger atoms/molecules having a higher boiling point.
