can someone help me

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How many units apart are the points (8, 11) and (-1, -1)?

OpenStudy (psymon):

Well, you can find their distance apart with the distance formula. The formula is as follows: \[distance=\sqrt{(x _{2}-x _{1})^{2}+(y _{2}-y _{1})^{2}} \] So what this means is you take the x2 is the x-coordinate of the 2nd point, x1 is the x-coordinate of the first point. Same thing with the y's. y2 = secondy point, y1 = first y point.

is it 15???

OpenStudy (psymon):

\[\sqrt{(-1-8)^{2}+(-1-11)^{2}}\] \[\sqrt{(-9)^{2}+(-12)^{2}}\] \[\sqrt{225 }=15 \] Good job : )

yayy thank you so much
