OpenStudy (praxer):

Why are alcohols less acidic than phenols ?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

You can explain this using resonance.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

A phenol IS an alcohol. Lol. But if you're referring to a general alcohol ASIDE from phenol, you can use resonance as an explanation for why it is more or less acidic than per say, phenol. Draw the resonance for phenol and maybe, 1-butanol?

OpenStudy (praetorian.10):

yeah @abb0t is spot on bro
