LaTeX Practicing! :)
OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

The only latex I know how to use is from this site. I want to start turning my homework using LaTeX. What program should I get to do this? I have textworks but it does not show the output as I type. I love how we get a preview of what we are doing on this site. What should I use?

thomaster (thomaster):

The LaTeX this site uses is mathjax. When you format documents in LaTeX it's different from the stuff you use here :P You'd need a TeX editor, check some here on this link. Don't know which one is the best since I don't work with latex documents. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_TeX_editors Maybe some online TeX editors: http://docs.latexlab.org/ https://www.sharelatex.com/

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Is there a way to use mathjax to make documents? I've gotten pretty good at it and it does everything I need

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

Ok easy peasy it aint so bad ty @thomaster

thomaster (thomaster):

Don't know. MathJax is designed for web browsers.

thomaster (thomaster):

@e.mccormick can tell you everything about it :P

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, only ones I know that do it as you type are the web based ones. When I use Texmaker I just click a build button every now and then to update the preview window.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

The down side to many of the online ones is your documents are public unless you pay to subscribe. But the attached is all I have to do to preview it.

OpenStudy (zzr0ck3r):

yeah im getting the hang of it now. ty

np. Have fun in $$\LaTeX$$ land.
