How can you tell the difference between an Endothermic reaction or a Exothermic reaction, anybody?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Endothermic is absorbing energy, or heat from it's surrounding, while Exothermic is release of energy. Another good way is to touch the beaker which your solution is in. If the beaker starts to feel warmer or hot, then you know you have an exothermic reaction, because you're releaxing energy, an example of this is Calcium chloride in water. But, if you have a solution, such as Ammonium Nitrate in Water, and you put your hand on the beaker to feel the temperature, you will see that the beaker starts to get colder, which is an indication of endothermic reaction. You can also use a thermometer as an indicator to be more safe.
