plug the first line in the second one, ie, substitute for y. \[8x - 2(4x - 6) = 14\] solve for x. once you have x you can plug that in the first line to solve for y. your solution is in the form (x, y)
if you get an incorrect equation, like in this case: 12 = 14 (which is obviously false), this means there is no solution
