The work done on the stone, 40 J, is converted to potential energy, reaching a maximum of m g h when the stone velocity is zero at the top of the trajectory. So, 40 J = m g h make sure the units are consistent.
I don't understand how the work done on the stone converts to potential energy. Is it because KE(lowest)=PE (highest)?
