well look at the diagram, what is the radius of the inner circle..? and what is the radius of the outer circle...?
2.2 is the outter and 5.4 inner
nope... 5.4 is a diameter of the inner circle... whats the radius... then when you get that, add 2.2 to it to get the radius of the outer circle... hope it makes sense
2.7 is a radi of the inner circle
added 2.7+2.2= 4.9
thats correct and the outer...? then the area of the deck = area of outer circle - area of the inner circle. \[Area = \pi 4.9^2 - \pi 2.2^2\]
just calculate it out for the answer, the round to 1 decimal place...

ok... so the deck is basically a large circle, with a smaller circle placed in the centre. So if you find the area of the large circle, radius 4.9 then subtract the area of the small circle, 2.2, the difference is the area between the circles
