why when you put copper pennies in peroxide and salt and leave them overnight without washing them do they turn almost like the color of when a little water is poured on comet or ajax? is the peroxide bleaching the pennies? is this similar to the prosses of leaving a penny soaked in lemon juice with salt or vingar with salt without washing them and leaving them overnight making them green? please if possible explain this as simply as possible for i am not very good at understanding equations.
peroxide is an oxidizing agent. im going to assume that it oxidizes the Copper in the reaction. And with the salt, I'm guessing you form copper chloride. And as far as vinegar, this is a different reactions. all of these are different reactions. what exactly is your question here?
Write down the chemical reactions that you have here.
Thank you very much for replying to my question. I really didnt have a question about the other reactions i understand fully what is happening. I wanted to know if it was anything like the lemon juice or vinegar which you answered.
