Predict the formula for Ba+2 and S-2

OpenStudy (ipwnbunnies):

A single neutral Barium atom wants to give its 2 valence electrons, so it has a 2+ ion charge in ionic compounds. Sulfur wants to gain 2 electrons to fill its valence subshell. It's a perfect match with a 1 to 1 ratio. So, one atom of Ba and one atom of S combine to make a molecule of BaS, the neutral ionic compound barium sulfide.
