describe the term molarity as it relates to an acid or base.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Molarity as it relates to an acid or base would be the concentrations of the acid or base. Molarity is measured as mol/L.

Miracrown (miracrown):

Do you know what molarity means in general?

Miracrown (miracrown):

Molarity is basically a measure of the concentration of a solution. When you dissolve something in a solvent like water you need a way to express how much of the solute is dissolved in a given amount of solution. Molarity is the number of moles of solute dissolved in every L of the solution It has the units mole/L. So for a solution of an acid you are just talking about the(moles of acid)/(liters of solution) or for a base the (moles of base)(/Liters of solution). It really isn't different from the general case.

Miracrown (miracrown):

One aspect is that an acid in solution will be partly or completely ionized. That is the acid molecules will lose a H(+) ion . So not all the acid in solution is in the same form. IF HA is a generic acid then...
