MEDAL FOR HELPPP!! Diane and Ethan sell televisions at different stores. Diane earns $11.00 for each TV she sells, plus a base salary of $250.00 each day .Ethan earns $26.00 for each tv he sells , plus a base salary of $175.00 each day. The system of equations shown below represents this situation on a day that Diane and Ethan both earned the same amount of money . y=11x+250 Y=26x +175 Which Statement is true? a. Dieane and Ethan both sold 5 TVS B. Diane and Ethan both sold 3 TVs C.Diane sold 3 tvs , and Ethan sold 5 tvs d. Diane sold 5 tvs , and Ethan sold 3 tvs
Set both equations equal to each other, 11x+250=26x+175 -11x -11x get the x together _____________________ 250=15x+175 -175 -175 get x by itself _____________________ 75=15x /15 /15 divide by 15 to get x or number of tvs need to be sold to get the same amount of money
C/
what did you get for x?
5
Ok great, that's the number of tvs they both have to sell in order to get the same amount of money. So instead of C, its....
It's D I thought she made more than he did . Am I correct ?
Well if you read the last sentence, it says the equation is when they earn the same amount of money. Knowing that you have to set both of the equations together to find x, once you find x, plug that back into the two equations and you will see that they both earned the same amount of money. The correct answer is A, x=5, when plugged back into both equations, you get $305
In other words Diane and Ethan BOTH have to sell 5 TVs in order for both of them to earn the same amount of money.
Oh ok so you put it for both .Ty for showing me how to figure it out
No problem :)
