C6H14 has a (higher/lower) boiling point than C11H24.

OpenStudy (jfraser):

Does it? What's similar or different about the compounds that would make you believe one or the other?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 and eleven so it would take less time right??????

OpenStudy (jfraser):

it's not a question of time, it's a question of what temperature is necessary to get each sample to boil

OpenStudy (anonymous):

iw would take lower boiling oint right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

*point

OpenStudy (jfraser):

why?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because it hass lesser C

OpenStudy (jfraser):

its entire formula matters, not just the number of carbon atoms. \(C_6H_{14}\) has a much lower molecular weight (86) than \(C_{11}H_{24}\) (156).
