Does a strong nuclear force affect an atom's electrons? Why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, it doesn't affect orbital electrons because they act only within small distances inside the nucleus. In the other word, they are called "short-range" forces.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nuclear forces act only between nucleons i.e 1)neutrons and protons 2)protons and protons 3) neutrons and neutrons acts for very short range=10^(-15)m -electrons does not experience this force.
