A chemical element is made up of very minute and indivisible particles called atoms. mole is the SI unit for the amount of substance. One mole consists of 6.02*10^23 particles(atoms). Avogadro number- is the number of particles present in one mole and is equal to 6.02*10^23. You can be asked to calculate the number of particles(protons, electrons) n=N/NA n-number of moles N-Number of particles NA-Avogadro s Constant Relative Atomic Mass Different atoms have different masses. Atoms have such a small mass it is more convenient to know their masses compared to each other. Carbon is taken as the standard atom and has a relative atomic mass (Ar) of 12. First of all MOLE is same as that of the DOZEN(12) that is used in our daily life. It is used for comparison in Chemistry. 1 Mole is defined as the number or collection of 6.02 * 10^23 particles(atoms or Molecules). Any chemical substance(Element or Compound) consists of 6.02 * 10^23 particles(atoms or molecules). For example, 1 mole Sodium contains 6.02 * 10^23 number of sodium atoms. similarly, 1 mole of water molecule consists of 6.02 * 10^23 number of water molecules. Number of moles, n = N/NA ; NA = Avogadro's Constant = 6.02 * 10^23 Number of moles, n = m/M ; M = Molar Mass and m = Given Mass
