Why it is OK to prepare the titrant solution so inaccurately?

@aaronq

OpenStudy (aaronq):

for a titration? it's not okay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes ?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

If you're using a very well known solution like KHP to calibrate the titrant, you'll determine its exact concentration volumetrically, so you don't have to prepare it precisely the first time

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ohh ok thanks.

one more question :S i am filling out my neutralization titration data sheet so, how to do find buret correction(ml) and corrected volume(ml) in the lab we have used 50 ml buret KHP mass(g) = 0.8528 Titrant Volume (ml) = 41.70

OpenStudy (jfraser):

i'm not familiar with those terms, but the volume should be the amount used

OpenStudy (jfraser):

since you know the acid used to standardize the titrant is KHP, which has a known molar mass, you can find the MOLES of KHP used. The moles of KHP used will be equal to the moles of base that were dispensed from the buret.
