A 10 gram rubber ball is placed in a graduated cylinder filled with 15 mL of water. If the volume in the graduated cylinder increases to 21 mL after the ball sinks to the bottom of the cylinder, what is the density of the rubber ball? A.3.60 g/mL B.0.48 g/mL C.1.67 g/mL D.0.60 g/mL

OpenStudy (anonymous):

density=mass/volume. The mass is given as 10g. The volume is determined by the amount (volume) of water displaced by the ball. Which is 6 ml in this case because 21mL-15mL= 6. The density therefore is given by 10g/6mL = 1.67 g/mL
