It's impossible to try to do something you dont understand, so i think that should be your first step. 1. Determine which solutions (list number) would be expected to have any buffer capacity. Show how these solutions meet the criteria. Does the data after the addition of acid indicate buffer capacity for these solutions? i know for solution 5, th ph difference is quite large, however when looking at solution one, it is much lower, however the initial ph, which is 2.43 is not much higher than the pH of HCl, so the % of change is much higher.

he pH change is for solution umber 5 is 3.23 meaning that it did not resist the change of pH i also know that the the pH change was very large, although the inital bit of the solution was large, (8.37) 38.6% of the solution became more acidic,

Toxic, solution 1 is acetic acid. HA and the the equation is HA<--> H+ + A-. 5 is basic because A-+H2O <-> HA+OH-. This is the equation of hydrolysis of the conjugate base of a weak acid. They want you to write these two equations to show you understand.
